William Gilchrist Styling
William was born in Henley, England and studied Fashion Design at the London College of Fashion. After showing two collections in London, he moved to Milan in 1990 and began styling in 1991.
His first work for Per Lui led to collaborations with Arena magazine where he became Fashion Editor.
In 1994 he held the position of Art/Fashion Director on the Sportswear International and authored the book “Cult: The Visual History of Jeans”.
William moved to New York in 1995 where he continued to work with Arena as the US Contributing Editor.
He then completed a year long contract as a Fashion Editor at Details magazine and then took up the position of Fashion Director at JACK magazine.
William consulted for Versace for many years on their Versus shows. He has also consulted for Nautica, Moschino and McQueen Menswear. Advertising clients include H&M, Hugo Boss, John Smedley, Nike, Kenneth Cole, Banana Republic, Reiss and Dior Homme Fragrance.
William’s recent entertainment clients include Benicio de Toro, Kanye West, Colin Firth and Ethan Hawke.
William spent two years styling The Rolling Stones for their ‘Bigger Bang’ World Tour during which time he also consulted for Armani Jeans, Meltin’ Pot and contributed to GQ, O Man, GQ Style and L’Uomo Vogue.
He has consulted for Belstaff and styled their menswear show for three seasons whilst shooting the Dunhill campaigns featuring Jude Law.
